Health has always fascinated me so when I was looking for a subject for my personal project, my mother suggested organ donation. I was not sure at first, as I had no knowledge on the subject. I started by talking to my science teacher who suggested that I contact Chain of Life. One of her colleagues, an English teacher, had heard of a training session by this organization on organ donation in an educational setting. I contacted them and was surprised when Lucie Dumont, president and founder of Chain of Life, accepted my request for an interview. In speaking with her, I understood the importance of organ donation education in schools.
 
Seeing the impossibility of doing my presentation in class because of the pandemic crisis, I decided to make a video to educate the students about the historical context of organ donation, to dispel the false beliefs and myths surrounding it, as well as to demonstrate, through testimonials, the benefits of donation.
 
After viewing the video, the 125 students were asked to answer a questionnaire to test their new-found knowledge. Many of them told me that my presentation had enlightened them on the issue of organ donation and that they had shared their decision with their families so that when they died, their choice would be respected. I was so happy that I was able to promote the cause of organ donation by doing my part with my classmates that I knew I couldn't stop there. I have always told those around me that I want to dedicate my life to making other people's lives better; therefore, I’ve decided to continue my education in the field of nursing in order to continue to further the cause of organ donation in my future profession.

What do we live for, if not to make life less difficult for each other?
