Support the Clements family, our flag bearers representing donor families in the Côte-Nord region. Donate to the region, form a team or join them for the climb as a gesture of solidarity in support of organ and tissue donation education in schools.

For our family, organ donation is doubly important.
It enabled a member of our family, Maryse Clements, to share our daily lives for a few more years thanks to a heart and kidney transplant. Very involved in the cause of organ and tissue donation, Maryse helped train teachers about Chain of Life on the North Shore and even helped organize several Life Chain Challenges. She was also active in Greffe-toi à nous, an organization that helps people waiting for a transplant and transplant recipients in the Duplessis region to receive support throughout their medical journey.
In 2021, organ donation took on a whole new meaning with the death of Dave Clements, another member of our family. Under the circumstances, five people benefited from a better quality of life thanks to the donation of his organs.
It's for all these reasons that, for us, organ donation is more than just a cause! For several years now, we've also been involved with Greffe-toi à nous. This year, we hope that many of you will join us for the Life Chain Challenge on Mont Trouble, in memory of Maryse and Dave, to help spread the word about the importance of educating the public about organ and tissue donation.

The Key Links in the Chain of Life
The key links in the chain of life are doctors, nurses, transplant recipients, donor families, teachers, students, distinguished climbers, public figures and many others... who join forces to create a movement uniting all those touched directly or indirectly by organ and tissue donation.

Mountain Climbing and Waiting for a Transplant: What a Parallel!
Participants in the Chain of Life Challenge carry the flag to the top of a mountain in their region.
Waiting for a transplant is a bit like climbing a mountain. Both require preparation, fortitude, determination, perseverance and, most of all, support — the climber needs strong climbing partners and the person waiting for an organ needs a reliable support network. Both are real challenges. This is why the mountain has become one of the symbols associated with Chain of Life.
By planting the Chain of Life flag at the top of a mountain, we are not only showing our solidarity for organ and tissue donation, but we are also helping send a message of hope to all those waiting for a transplant in Quebec and elsewhere.
