Tamara Thompson and Sophie Nadeau

Hi everyone,
This year, the Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean region will be represented by a truly remarkable mother–daughter team: Tamara Thompson and her daughter Sophie Nadeau, both passionate teachers deeply committed to the mission of Chain of Life.

For many years, Tamara has dedicated her energy and heart to educating her students about an important social issue: organ and tissue donation. For her, health education is inseparable from this mission: she encourages young people to recognize the value of a healthy body, and the importance of adopting healthy lifestyle habits. In her classroom, she creates spaces for reflection, fosters dialogue, and shows the importance of making a free and informed choice, one to be shared with their loved ones. Through this holistic educational approach, she has seen many students transform their perspective on life, solidarity and social responsibility.

Through organ donation education, young people discover that life and health are priceless treasures that must be protected and preserved. They are thus inspired to become not only agents of change in building a true culture of donation in Quebec, but also ambassadors of a culture of good health.

Inspired by her mother’s example, Sophie has chosen to walk by her side and carry forward this same commitment with conviction. Now a teacher herself, she passes on to her students the same values of humanity, good health and responsibility. Together, they embody not only the strength of education and youth, but also the continuity between generations.

By accepting to be flag bearers for the Challenge in Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean, Tamara and Sophie proudly carry the colours of Chain of Life, but also those of an entire region proud of its roots and values. Their duo symbolizes transmission, respect, generosity and solidarity, forces that bring together families, communities and generations around a universal cause: saving lives through organ and tissue donation.

Their commitment illustrates a universal truth expressed by Nelson Mandela: “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.”

They warmly invite you to walk by their side on October 18 on the Eucher trail up to the summit. You can join their team or support them with a donation.

Together, let’s walk for life!

Mountain Climbing and Waiting for a Transplant: What a Parallel!

Participants in the Chain of Life Challenge carry the flag to the top of a mountain in their region.

Mountain Climbing and Waiting for a Transplant: What a Parallel!

Waiting for a transplant is a bit like climbing a mountain. Both require preparation, fortitude, determination, perseverance and, most of all, support — the climber needs strong climbing partners and the person waiting for an organ needs a reliable support network. Both are real challenges. This is why the mountain has become one of the symbols associated with Chain of Life.

By planting the Chain of Life flag at the top of a mountain, we are not only showing our solidarity for organ and tissue donation, but we are also helping send a message of hope to all those waiting for a transplant in Quebec and elsewhere.

        Thank you to our partners!
