In this very special year under the sign of COVID-19, a very different version of the Chain of Life Challenge will be presented on October 17-18, 2020 as part of the World Day for Organ Donation and Transplantation.

It is with regret that, in order to limit gatherings, we must accept that the members of the chain of life teams from each region and the general public, that generally accompanies them, will not be able to climb together for Chain of Life. That being said, the role of the regional flag bearers will take on an even greater importance as they will be the ones carrying the Chain of Life flag to the top of the mountain on your behalf. In order to put an accent on the donation chain, the flag bearers will be supported by a small team representing some of the key links in the donation chain (teachers, students, doctors, nurses, patients awaiting transplant, donor families, police officers, transplant recipients, climbers and citizens).

By encouraging your regional flag bearer and her or his team with a donation, you will be helping support organ and tissue donation education in schools and equipping young people to become ambassadors of family discussion!

This year, we have undertaken a major project, that of redesigning our Website and adding content to help educate families about organ and tissue donation. Leading transplant specialists are already participating by preparing video clips on each organ, as well as on the importance of maintaining a healthy body. And, here's a scoop you won't want to miss: Laurent Duvernay-Tardif has given us a super testimony for the health section of Chain of Life!

Please join Isabelle Maréchal and Thierry Houillon, official sponsors of the Chain of Life Challenge, and the Claire and Jean-Pierre Léger Foundation, provincial partner of the Challenge, and generously support your regional Chain of Life team.

And, if you still wish to climb a mountain with your family during the month of October on behalf of Chain of Life, do not hesitate to do so. And, don't forget to send us, on our Facebook page, a photo of you at the top!

On behalf of the entire Chain of Life team, a huge thank you!

Lucie Dumont
President and Founder of Chain of Life
